there was this character in The Legend of Korra who literally had one (1) second of screentime & he was so unimportant that he didn’t have a NAME, so people decided to dub him “Howl” aka “Hot Order of the White Lotus guard” and ship him with Korra?? LIKE.. there were literally fics and art and rp blogs made for this random insignificant character with no lines or plot importance and i still think about that to this day
So at Flamecon, surrounded by SO MANY GREAT ARTISTS, I was picking on my new Korrasami piece & getting way too down on myself.
When I went to cut out some mini prints & found this amazing & uplifting sketch by a staples employee!
Thank you Staples Artist. You restored my confidence & inspired me a great deal.
While it is good to analyze & critique our work, we must not get lost in demoralizing negativity. We must remember: even our flawed works have positive qualities that can inspire others.
The pic I was being so hard on brightened someone’s day, & they brightened my day in return.
There’s so much wisdom for me to follow here. Lately when I’d see good art, I’d quietly launch into thinking about how my art was comparatively inadequate.
Instead I want to be like Staples Artist: let good artists know they inspire me, make good vibes, and then create more art.
