Stop the idea that German and Russian are harsh and ugly languages

Where does that idea even come from? Like especially with Russian, it’s so damn soft and has a melodic lilt to it

“Russian is harsh” is cold war era mccarthyist propaganda and that’s tea

I did a ‘taste of Russian’ thing (1hour session) a while back and instead of teaching us basic words the instructor taught us the alphabet and then helped us read a poem. It was beautiful, and although it probably got lost in translation, the melody of the words were amazing

Languages can be beautiful in more ways than how they sound! A language can have the most guteral, unnapealing sounds but have a beautiful vocabulary!

Yall just don’t know how to appreciate any languages that aren’t romance languages and that’s the tea !
