Labor Day was started as a strike by the working class of the early 1800s to bring attention to the abuse they faced under the hands of their bosses, but now it’s moreso a holiday where those in higher corporate positions get to lay back and relax with family and shop while the actual lower working class is stuck serving them in their low wage retail, factory and food service jobs? Really makes u think (and by think I mean hate capitalism)
It literally came from workers working 65+ hour a week, 7 days a week jobs in dangerous conditions with no benefits begging for a way to survive and support their families without their life being taken away? Socialists historically used it as a day to demonstrate the harm capitalism and corporations put on their lives and their families but now it’s a day for huge fucking old navy sales or whatever and shit to drag in customers on their day off which in turn makes the retail workers day twice as hard, don’t shop on Labor Day unless genuinely nessecary hit send
